Prompt Engineering
Definition
Prompt engineering is the practice of structuring instructions so an AI system understands the task, context, expected result and important limits.
Why it matters
Small changes in an instruction can significantly affect the quality of an AI result. Good prompting makes work more repeatable and reduces unnecessary back-and-forth.
Example
“Write a proposal” is vague. A stronger prompt explains the audience, objective, required sections, tone, constraints and information the AI should use.
