Agentic AI

Definition

Agentic AI describes AI systems designed to plan, choose actions and complete multi-step work with a degree of autonomy.

Why it matters

Traditional AI interactions often stop after one prompt and one response. Agentic systems can maintain a goal across several steps while still following defined permissions and human controls.

Example

Instead of only drafting a follow-up email, an agentic workflow could identify which customers need follow-up, prepare personalized drafts and wait for approval before sending.
