AI automation combines automated process steps with AI capabilities, such as classifying a message or extracting information from a document. Other steps can still follow fixed rules, and people can review decisions or handle exceptions.
Why it matters
It helps distinguish where AI is useful from where ordinary rules are sufficient. The workflow still needs reliable inputs, permissions, checks and an owner for failures.
